Heart Disease is the Leading Cause of Death

The time is now to put a plan of action together to become a healthier you!!!

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

*Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both women and men in the United States.

The LEADING cause!

*In 2005, 652,091 people died of heart disease (50.5% of them women). This was 27.1% of all U.S. deaths.

Guiltless oatmeal

Guiltless Oatmeal Cookies 1 cup plain sugar free applesauce 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar 2 eggs or 4 egg whites 1 tsp vanilla 1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour, amaranth flour, soy flour or flour of your choice (not all purpose) 1 tsp baking soda 2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp salt (optional) 3 cups Quaker Old Fashioned Oats (Optional) 1 cup of chopped or ground nuts (walnuts, almonds, cashews, etc.) or 3/4 cup of Almond butter or sugar free peanut butter (Optional) 1 cup raisins, chopped dried apricots, dried cranberries, fresh cranberries, M&M’s, dark chocolate chunks, or other addition Another idea would be to make them plain or with chips and TOP with Almond Butter or Natural Peanut Butter Tip: Feel free to add ground flax for extra fiber and wheat germ for extra nutritional content! 1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F 2. Beat together applesauce and brown sugar until creamy 3. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well 4. In separate bowl mix together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt; add to cream mixture and mix well. 5. Stir in oats and additions and mix well. 6. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls onto un-greased cookie sheet lined with parchment paper (for easy cooling! Pull the sheet onto cooling racks) 7. Bake 10 – 12 minutes or until golden brown. About 4 dozen 8. Cool 1 minutes on cookies sheet
